To Apply for New Pan Card Through Online In Tamilnadu you must need ‘error-free” Aadhar card. You can able to apply for new pan card in three ways. Those are,
- e-KYC – e-Sign (Paperless)
- Submit Scanned images through e-Sign
- Forward application documents physically
I suggest you go to the first option if you have the correct personal details on your Aadhar card but you must need to have an “Aadhaar” registered phone number with you. You can update your aadhaar address online.
Common Doubts about PAN and Aadhar:
Example 1:
My Full Name without initial is “RANJITHKUMAR” and my father’s name is “SUBRAMANIAM”.
So “RANJITHKUMAR” is my first name and “SUBRAMANIAM” is my last name/Surname.
Example 2:
My friend name without initial is “JEYANTH PRASANTH” and his father’s name is “KUMARASAMY”.
There is space between Jeyanth & Prasanth so “JEYANTH” is his first name, “PRASANTH” is his middle name and “KUMARASAMY” is his last name/Surname.
Note: You need to use your “father’s name” in the last name because PAN Application does not accept the single initial letter.
It’s compulsory to maintain the same name structure for Aadhar and PAN card. If you only had an “initial of the name” instead of father’s full name in my Aadhar card, that’s not a problem.
Is it compulsory to have PAN Card?
The answer is No but you need to provide PAN Card for important services such as GAS Connection, Bank and other government-related services.

Procedure to Apply for New Pan Card Through Online:
The first step is to open the official Income Tax Department Link for Apply PAN Online. The page will look like the below image.
- Application Type – New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A)
- Category – Individual
- Title – Shri for men, smt for married women and kumari for unmarried women
- Last Name/Surname – Father’s name
- First Name & Middle Name – Your name.
Once you have successfully filled all the required details then fill the captcha code and submit.
It will generate a unique token number for your PAN application. Kindly save it on the secure place for future use and Click the “Continue with PAN Application form” Button.
Method 1 : e-KYC & e-Sign (Paperless)
“Submit digitally through e-KYC & e-Sign (Paperless)” is the easiest method because you don’t have to upload any documents just you need to verify your Aadhar with OTP.
- Whether Physical PAN Card is required – if you need it “Yes” otherwise “No”
- Enter last four digits of Aadhar
- I hereby agree that my photograph as available in Aadhaar shall be printed on the PAN Card – Yes
- Gender (Only for individual) – Male or Female or Transgender
- Have you ever been known by any other name? – If yes “Yes” otherwise “No”
- Whether mother is a single parent and you wish to apply for PAN by furnishing the name of your mother only? – If your father is died then “Yes” otherwise “No”
- Father’s last name, first name & middle name – Same rules like yours.
Click “Next” Button, it will redirect you to the next page where you have to fill your contact and other details.
Source of Income- Its depends on you but if you are a student or housewife then use “No Income” Option.
If you choose “Salary,Income from Business/Profession you have to fill the “Office” Address.Otherwise you don’t have to fill the residence/office address.
Again Click the “Next” Button it will move on to the “AO Code” Page where you have to fill you AO Code.
You can able to search your AO Code Choosing the State and City. AO code stands for Assessing Officer is a combination of your Area Code, AO Type, Range Code, and AO Number used when you apply for PAN card.
Once you have selected your city then press “Ctrl+F” button and search your taluk you will find two results. If your income is up to 10lakh per/annum choose the respective AO Code otherwise choose another AO Code.
Again Click the next button it will redirect you to the “Document Details” page. On that page, you have to accept the declaration and you have to fill the place.
Finally, Submit the application it will the page where you can check all entered details if the data are correct you have to fill the 8 digits of aadhar number and proceed otherwise edit the application using “Edit” Button.
You have to make the payment of Rs.101 + Bank charges using credit card/debit card/net banking or wallets.
Final Thoughts:
Once you made the payment, on the next step you have to verify your aadhar with OTP. That’s it friends for security purpose download the payment receipt and the form(after payment you can download it).
